Derg Firestone, the owner of the Dwarven History Museum has put out a call for assistance. It is time for another dig, and he needs strong men and women to keep him and his men safe.
Our four heroes each accept the job from Derg, and early one summer morning, the caravan leaves Neverwinter to head to the dig site.
It is a three day journey by horse and Wagon. Along the way, they meet Pavel, Derg’s 2nd in command and right hand man.
On the second day of travel, the caravan is ambushed by a group of 5 bandits. 3 of the bandits are dispatched in the woodline by Mickalaus while the other 2 are beaten, subdued, and bound by Suthra with the help of the others. Derg tells the group that as the security for the caravan, it is their choice on how to handle the two captured bandits. After some debate, it is decided that the bandits will be freed, but not before their thumbs are broken (in hopes that they will no longer be able to hold a sword against honest men again).
After another day of travel, the caravan arrives at the dig site. Nestled into the foothills, what appears to be a cave, upon closer inspection, reveals itself to be the entrance to a Dwarven tomb. Derg explains that he has information stating that this tomb holds clues to the location of the fabled “Anvil of Moradin”.
Upon entrance to the tomb, it is clear that over many years, this has become home to a pack of wolves. After a few fights with the wolves protecting their home, and a couple Dwarven traps, the group finds what must be the actual resting place, and hopefully contains the tome that Derg is searching for.
With the help of Derg’s men, the tomb is opened, and indeed, an ancient tome is waiting there. It is quickly extracted by Derg and his men, along with a number of other artifacts from the tomb.
After a couple days of excavations, the caravan heads back to Neverwinter, where they receive high praise from Derg himself along with a hefty payment.
The adventurers are released form their contract with Derg, but he tells them that he will call upon them again personally should the need arise.
